Bigscreen unveils the 2E version of its ultralight Beyond headset, aimed at the VRChat community and at a more affordable price. What does it really offer?
In short:
Bigscreen has launched a new model of its Beyond headset, the 2E: VRChat Edition, with a lower price and adjusted specs for those seeking a comfortable and lightweight social experience without breaking the bank.
What exactly is the Bigscreen Beyond 2E?
Bigscreen made a name for itself with the original Beyond, an ultralight, custom-fit PCVR headset weighing just 127 grams. This new 2E version aims to keep that philosophy, but at a much more attractive price: $699, compared to the original model’s $999.
The big news in this edition is its focus on the VRChat community, which values long sessions, comfort, and freedom of movement. The company claims the screen is still a high-density OLED microdisplay with perfect blacks and vibrant colors.
The Beyond 2 now delivers edge-to-edge clarity, a huge sweetspot, less glare, and a massive 116° diagonal field of view. These optical specs compete with —and even surpass— the Meta Quest 3 and other PCVR headsets on the market.

Key changes:
- Weight: just slightly above the original Beyond, still one of the lightest on the market. 107 grams compared to the Meta Quest 3’s 515 grams.
- Resolution: slightly lower to hit the price point.
- Fit: no longer custom-fitted for each user, instead uses a standard fit with several included pads.
- Price: about 30% cheaper.
Improving social experience with Full-Body Tracking
To improve fidelity in social virtual reality, full-body tracking (FBT) is a must-have for VRChat. To that end, we designed the Beyond to be compatible with the SteamVR accessory ecosystem. This means customers upgrading from an Index or Vive can continue using their (costly!) FBT accessories such as Vive Trackers and Tundra Trackers without having to buy new ones.

Eye tracking: more expressiveness in your interactions
Eye tracking is another key feature for VRChat, as it enables greater expressiveness when chatting with others in a virtual space. The Beyond 2E proudly features the world’s smallest eye-tracking camera system, with an image sensor the size of a grain of sand (as shown above).
Unlike previous approaches, Beyond 2E’s eye-tracking algorithms use novel computer vision techniques. We trained AI models on the human pupil and run real-time inference on GPUs, with models fine-tuned to each individual user.

Who is this headset for?
If your priority is long social sessions, like spending hours in VRChat, NeosVR, or similar, this version is a great alternative.
Lightweight, great field of view, pure blacks, and a more affordable price are solid arguments.
If, on the other hand, you’re looking for maximum sharpness for simulators or extreme productivity, the original Beyond or alternatives like Pimax Crystal are still better options.
Extra: exclusive items in VRChat
VRChat users who buy the VRChat Edition will unlock exclusive digital items like VRChat objects, stickers, and profile badges. There are also more planned features for this edition in the future, including rare raffles and special drops, so stay tuned!

In summary: a smart move
Bigscreen knows where its most loyal user base is: people who live in VRChat.
Offering them a specialized headset for long sessions, at a more accessible price, is a logical strategy. It’s not a headset “for everyone,” but it perfectly covers a very specific niche.
